Refueling missions are part of the nighttime air strikes on Afghanistan. Here an F-15 Strike Eagle, seen through the green glow of a night scope, moves in to make contact with a KC-135R from the 319th Air Expeditionary Group (AEG) in the night skies over Afghanistan. The 319th AEG deployed to a forward operating location to provide air-to-air refueling in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 at the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President George W. Bush initiated Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), fighting terrorism abroad.
